Press release S.U.A 2021
Is the event platform under Okoa Mtaa Foundation, for young upcoming artists to celebratestreet art and creativity, for many artists S.U.A event (#back2sua) has been considered as their first stage. For more than seven years S.U.A project is bringing together young people, who are not reached by many programs in Tanzania, a diverse crowd of youths and other
art/development stakeholders from all over the world to share their art with the community.
For your information, in the Arusha region, 7 out of 10 youth are practicing different forms of Art (Music, painting, dance, graffiti, poetry, creative writing, deejay, street fashion, design…), but, there are few or non-platforms for artists to learn and showcasing their art. Therefore Okoa Mtaa Foundation through the S.U.A project in partnership with stakeholders is responding to solving this challenge by creating safe platform for the upcoming artist.
One of the successes of the SUA project, in June this year, we participated in organizing the HipHop Asili Festival which takes place every June, and in Arusha, we presented 10 participants, who went to the festival finals, and in all the competitions areas which were MC, Dj and B-boy, all the winners came from Arusha: Mc – RMC, dJ – Dj 255 cent and B boy – B boy kilumbo.
In this S.U.A event total of 75 upcoming artists have already registered to participate in the program from 16 – 20 December, of which 65% of these artists will be their first time to hit the stage. All registered artists will be participating in the workshops and stage performance. S.U.A theme this time is “Kazi Kazi” to encourage youth to keep working on their dreams tirelessly without losing their dignity and values.
The event will be 100% street (public), FREE FOR ALL
